4th of July Tag

Hello, my fellow bloggers! Yes, I am aware that I have been inactive for over…what almost a year? I think I would be able to justify my absence in one word: Highschool. Yep, I just started freshman year, and I have come to learn that the complete school atmosphere is very different from middleschool. It differs in both good and bad ways, but I’ve finally adjusted to it now. Since it’s summer, I will probably be more active on here. (Don’t get your hopes up too high, though xD)

Enough beating around the bush, this post is a 4th of July Tag.

I was tagged by Silvia, over at The Universe Designs. Go check her out; she’s a very sweet, dedicated, and skilled writer.

Now, for the tagged questions.

1. 1. What do you think of when you think of the Fourth of July?
BBQ, Fireworks, parties, the U.S flag

2. Do you have any special Fourth of July traditions?
Not really. At the most, I watch the fireworks show with friends or family.

3. Do you watch any of the Fourth of July programs on TV?
Nope.

4. What does the 4th of July mean to you/what do you think of it?
Though many emphasize on the fact that U.S beat Britain in the Revolutionary War, and gained independence from them, I like to think of it from a simpler pint of view: The birth of our country.
5. Any Fourth of July/Patriotic songs that stand out to you?
Obviously, “The Star Spangled Banner”.
6. What is your favorite type of firework?
There is one type of firework which explodes in a huge circle, and the individual sparks rain down across the sky like gold waterfalls. Those never fail to amaze me.
7. Do you think people should continue the custom of fireworks on the Fourth of July even though fireworks can have negative impacts on the environment?
Honestly, I was having the same thoughts while watching a fireworks show last night. I just watched all the pollution the fireworks released into the air after they exploded, and  thought of how detrimental it would be to the atmosphere. Personally, I am a strong supporter of the cause to fight global warming, and to preserve the Earth’s environment in general. However, it is very difficult to break long-lasting traditions, and I myself, enjoy fireworks. Therefore, I am kind of in the middle between supporting the use of fireworks, or banning them.
8. What do you/your family usually do on the Fourth of July?
We either go to a park to see fireworks, or we watch them from our house. Otherwise, we mainly just enjoy the free day by relaxing.
9. Have you owned any Fourth of July themed accessories or clothes before?
Not recently, but I believe I owned a shirt printed with the American flag when I was younger.

10. Who do you tag?
Kenzie and Jenny from Partners in Crime

I expect BOTH of you to write a post on this!

I’m Back!

Hello, I’ve know that I haven’t posted in several months, and I apologize. I just entered high school, and life is crazy. I will try my best to get a post in at least once in two weeks. And big news, I got a new camera: Nikon D5200. I’m really happy about this, I’ve been asking for a  DSLR for a while now.

I’ve been taking a lot of pictures with my new the past few months. Here are some of my shots:

Vegetable Garden, dedicated to Silvia

DSC_0147[1]

This year my parents planted some vegetables in the backyard garden. Each year we plant eggplants, cucumbers, basil, squash and other vegetables. A new addition to the garden was beans. As you may have noticed in the title, I have written this post for my friend, Silvia. Here is a poem I wrote about the garden.

Natural

Organic

That’s the way I like it.

Every year

Tasty food

I’m willing to share.

Watering

Planting

Taking good care

Bunnies,

They try to get some

But always fail.

So come on over,

We can garden together.

Lookin’ Out My Back Door

Today’s daily prompt from the daily post is Lookin’ Out My Back Door “Look out your back window or door — describe what you see, as if you were trying to convey the scene to someone from another country or planet.”

The link: http://dailypost.wordpress.com/2014/04/03/prompt-back-door/

When I look out my back door, I see a series of things. The first thing which catches my eye is the vegetable garden. It is a couple of feet high, and has soil filled in it almost to the top. A wooden barrier or boundary surrounds the garden, with a step stool in front for people to tend to the garden.

Another thing I notice is the next door house. They have a fence which separates our property from theirs. There is a small rectangular window in the side of the home. There are two pine trees in the backyard, a little taller than our house.

Coming in closer to my house, there is a deck, a reddish-brown color. Robins, sparrows, doves, and occasionally hawks or cardinals perch on the railing. They play, fight, and feed. In the spring, sometimes I even see small chicks learning how to fly.

If I could Turn Back Time…

13568223015_ce5597d067_b

(Artwork from the second grade)

Today’s daily writing prompt from the Daily Post is “If I could turn back time

If I could relive a part of my life, it would be the elementary school years. Those were the careless, free days. School days were kind of like daycare. We would play many games, do fun activities, and get lots of recess. (I remember playing four square with a bunch of friends outside. I was really good at that game. XD)

We never had to worry about anything important. Our only problems were things like, “He budged in line!” or “She took my spot!”

That is why I would like to relive and cherish those first years of my life. No work, responsibilities, or worries.

However, being in middle school, I am still relatively care free. I’m not quite a young adult, or a small child. I am right in between. When I’m older, my opinion on this topic might change. I have many more years to go. 🙂

Cliques

(Pic from Google)

After being in middle school for the past two and a half years, I have noticed something. You’ve probably noticed it too.

Cliques.

My school isn’t like the stereotypical middle school which you see in movies and TV shows. There are cliques, or shall I say groups of friends with labels. I’m not sure whether this calls for other people, but I find it hard to make friends and work with several people from a certain clique all at once.  They always ignore you, and share several inside jokes. But when it’s just you and one other person who doesn’t have their friends with them, it runs really smooth. You act as you were best friends.

I think that we all do this unknowingly. That’s why I have started to make more of an effort to include everyone in group work and other activities.

The Busiest Months of The School Year

planner glasses

To me, January and February are the most busiest months of the year. Piles of school work, competitions, extra curricular activities, and the cold weather just seems to make it worse. This year, January and February had a bunch of events going on, but I managed. Before, I had no reason at all, to use a planner. But now, I need one. Without it, I would have no idea what to do first, or what was important. I might have forgotten to do some assignments, study for tests, or prepare for competitions.

Now that it’s March, everything has seemed to cool down for me. School work has just faded to a daily routine. It’s bound to pick up again after spring break, but that’s okay. I’ll be ready. 🙂
